Sections

There are FIVE age sections in scouting: Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Ventures and Rovers.

Here is a rule of thumb for our age brackets:

  • Beavers: 6-8: must have turned 6 by the September of joining (Sen.Inf/1st-2nd cl.)
  • Cubs: 9-11: must be 8 by 31st March prior to the September joining (3rd-5th cl.)
  • Scouts: 12-15: must be 11 by the 31st March prior to the September joining (6th cl.-3rd Yr)
  • Ventures: 15-17: must be 15, and may not be older than 17 (3rd Yr+)
  • Rovers: 18+: must join prior to 18th birthday

It is at the discretion of the section leaders and the Group Leader, when scouts may move section, according to their age, ability, needs and maturity.
